Hellenic Train is implementing a €308 million investment programme – the largest ever in Greek land transport – for the acquisition of 23 new electric trains.
Following an international evaluation process, Hellenic Train selected Coradia Stream trains by Alstom, a model with proven reliability in many European countries.
A total of 23 trains:

- 11 for the suburban lines Athens–Chalkida and Athens–Kiato–Patras*

- ETCS: a digital system that communicates in real time with the control centre and can activate automatic braking when necessary
- TCMS: a central system that monitors and controls all critical functions (traction, braking, doors, heating, ventilation, air-conditioning)
Passengers in both first and second class will enjoy a quiet, comfortable journey with:
- large windows for unobstructed views
- LED lighting that adjusts automatically to ambient conditions
Coradia Stream has been designed with sustainability in mind:
