Athens, 30 April 2026

Alstom’s Center of Excellence in Savigliano, Italy, where the 23 new electric Coradia Stream trains for Hellenic Train are being built, was visited by the Deputy Minister of Transport, Konstantinos Kyranakis, and the CEO of the company, Roberto Rinaudo.

The visit took place in the context of monitoring the progress of the €308 million investment for fleet renewal, which includes 12 trains for the Athens –Thessaloniki corridor and 11 for suburban services. The project is progressing according to schedule.

During the visit, the production lines and technological infrastructure of the plant were presented, one of Alstom’s key industrial hubs in Europe and a center for the Coradia Stream platform, featuring Factory 4.0 capabilities.

The new trains are designed in line with modern European standards, integrating advanced technological systems that enhance operational reliability and passenger experience. At the same time, they place emphasis on comfort and accessibility, with a contemporary interior layout and functional spaces tailored to travel needs.

They also incorporate solutions that improve energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact, contributing to the transition towards more sustainable rail transport.
