With the arrival of 23 new Coradia Stream trains from Alstom, Hellenic Train is implementing the largest fleet renewal ever carried out in the country and setting new standards for modern rail travel. Through a €308 million investment, we are bringing to Greece technology that has already been tested on major European networks: from low-noise operation and reduced energy consumption to advanced safety systems that work discreetly but effectively.
The new trains are designed around the passengers. Low-floor access without steps, spacious interiors, dedicated areas for bicycles and large luggage, adaptive LED lighting and high-performance sound insulation come together to create a completely new travel experience.
With reliability proven in 12 countries and state-of-the-art European safety systems such as ETCS and TCMS, the Coradia Stream trains do more than simply strengthen the network. They strengthen trust in rail travel, with stability and consistency on every journey.

Hellenic Train is implementing a €308 million investment programme – the largest ever in Greek land transport – for the acquisition of 23 new electric trains.
Following an international evaluation process, Hellenic Train selected Coradia Stream trains by Alstom, a model with proven reliability in many European countries.
A total of 23 trains:
- 12 for the intercity axis Athens–Thessaloniki
- 11 for the suburban lines Athens–Chalkida and Athens–Kiato–Patras*
